SOCCER TEAMS CLIMB USCAA RANKINGS

October 9, 2015

The ACPHS men's soccer team is ranked #5 and the women's team is ranked #6 in the latest poll from the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).

The men's team has a 9-3 record (5-0 in the HVIAC) and has posted five shutouts in a row by a combined score of 21-0. Zak Giorgi leads the team in scoring with 12 goals in 11 games, followed closely by Mina Girgis with nine goals. Freshman Kevin Frevele and sophomore Matt Houlihan are sharing the goalkeeping duties.

The women's team is also on a roll, having won five of their last six games to improve their record to 9-3 (2-0). Freshman Katie Benson has had a standout year in her first season scoring 18 goals in just 8 games. And she's not even leading the team! That honor goes to Erin Tersegno who has 20 goals in 12 games this season.

Both teams have two regular season games remaining, wrapping up their seasons with home games on Sunday, October 18.

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) holds their postseason tournament October 24-25. This year's tournament will be hosted on the ACPHS Campus where the men's and women's teams are a combined 10-1 on the year.

The USCAA national championships will take place in Asheville, NC, from November 3-7. Only eight teams qualify for each the men's and women's tournaments.
