Academics

Department of Pharmacy Practice

The Department of Pharmacy Practice is a team of highly trained, specialized faculty with members located on each of the College's two campuses. Faculty have a broad range of expertise in areas that include infectious disease, nephrology, and endocrinology.

The department offers a well-developed, integrated Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum complemented by a robust pharmacy skills course and problem solving workshops across the P1 through P3 years. Curricular concentrations are available in Nephrology and Administration/Management/Economics (AME).

The Department has more than 600 pharmacy practice sites for students to complete their rotation requirements, including two student operated pharmacies – one in Albany, NY and another in Schenectady, NY.

In addition, the Department offers several unique post-graduate training programs: (1) an endocrinology residency which is the only one of its kind in the country; (2) a nephrology residency which is one of only two such programs in the country; (3) a residency in medication management through a partnership with Clinical Support Services; and (4) a fellowship in specialty compounding in conjunction with Custom Medicine Pharmacenter.
