ACPHS receives NYSED approval to Provide Teach-out Programming in Biology, Forensic Psychology, Forensic Science and Psychology

ACPHS Hires Eight CSR faculty to Provide Consistency for Students

ACPHS to Host Welcome Party for Saint Rose Faculty and Students, Fri., April 12

Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences announces plans to welcome College of Saint Rose students and faculty who are in transition as Saint Rose prepares to cease operations.

ACPHS has received emergency approval from the New York State Education Department to provide teach-out programming to transitioning College of Saint Rose students in biology, forensic psychology, forensic science, and psychology programs as their college prepares to close at the end of summer.

Students currently pursuing these programs at the College of Saint Rose will have equivalent access to each program’s curriculum, support services and advising as well as many of the same professors Saint Rose students have grown to know and love.

“We recognize the complex and delicate nature of this situation and are striving to ensure that Saint Rose students receive the support and resources here at ACPHS that are required to succeed,” said ACPHS President Toyin Tofade. “As an institution dedicated to educating the next generation of health care leaders, we are well poised to welcome our new students and their respected faculty into our tight-knit, student-centered community.”

ACPHS Hires Eight Saint Rose Faculty Members

To facilitate the teach-out with ACPHS faculty members in these programs, eight Saint Rose faculty members will join ACPHS including:

  • Sara Alvaro PhD, BS – With College of Saint Rose since 2011, she served as associate professor of chemistry in the School of Math and Sciences. She will support teach-out programming for forensic science at ACPHS.
  • Nancy Dorr PhD, BA, MA - She spent more than 20 years specializing in health psychology at the College of Saint Rose with research interests focusing on social and personality aspects of health and well-being, management of chronic illness, and aging in place among older adults.
  • Robert Flint PhD, MA, BS - With the College of Saint Rose for more than 25 years, he served as chair of both the Department of Psychology and the Department of Criminal Justice, Behavior, and Law at CSR. He will serve as program director for the BS psychology and BS forensic psychology programs at ACPHS.
  • Kelly Hallstrom BA, PhD – With the College of Saint Rose since 2017, she served as assistant professor of microbiology. She will support teach-out programming for biology at ACPHS.
  • Ross Krawczyk PhD -  With the College of Saint Rose for more than 10 years, Dr. Krawczyk is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in the assessment and treatment of eating, body image, and weight-related disorders. 
  • Stephen Maher JD, MMA, BA - An attorney, former law enforcement executive, and retired military officer who taught at the College of Saint Rose for the past few years.
  • Lillian Rodriguez-Steen PhD, BA – With the College of Saint Rose since 2022, she is an expert in developmental forensic psychology and teaches courses in research methods and statistics, introductory and advanced forensic psychology, and general psychology.
  • Daniel Schoenfeld, PhD, BA, MS – Served as a visiting professor of psychology at the College of Saint Rose for the past five years.

Saint Rose Welcome Party and Informational Events

This Friday, April 12, ACPHS will host a Welcome Party and open house for the College of Saint Rose students to meet with ACPHS faculty, staff and students as they consider the next steps in their academic journeys. ACPHS faculty and staff will welcome Saint Rose students, provide tours of the ACPHS campus, including housing. Students will have opportunities to meet with ACPHS faculty, staff and students to learn about academic programs, clubs, activities, and resources, and sample food at the College’s Gozzo Student Center food court.

Leading up to Friday’s Welcoming Party, ACPHS has hosted several in-person and virtual sessions providing opportunities for Saint Rose students to explore and learn about the College.
