UNC CHAPEL HILL DEAN TO SERVE AS KEYNOTE FOR SPRING RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM

Angela Kashuba, B.Sc.Phm., Pharm.D., DABCP, FCP, dean of the Eshelman School of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will serve as keynote speaker at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences’ Annual Research Symposium on April 6 and 7, 2023.

The College’s Research Symposium is a two-day event celebrating research at ACPHS. Student and faculty contributors will present individual or collaborative works detailing findings from ongoing research or published papers, description of program activities and projects, and other creative works in all academic areas.

Dr. Kashuba will discuss her research which focuses on optimizing anti-retroviral pharmacology in the treatment, prevention and eradication of HIV infection. The John A. and Margaret P. McNeill Sr. Distinguished Professor will speak at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, April 7 via Zoom.

On Thursday, April 6, the symposium will kick off with in-person poster presentations from BS, PharmD and graduate students across all academic disciplines from 11 am – 12:30 pm in the Holland Business Administration Building. Then on Friday, April 7, ACPHS faculty and students will present their advanced research projects virtually via Zoom, including winners of the 2021-2022 Scholarship of Discovery Awards and the 2022 Summer Student Research Awards.

About Symposium Keynote Speaker, Angela Kashuba, PharmD

Angela Kashuba, B.Sc.Phm., Pharm.D., DABCP, FCP, currently serves as director of the UNC Center for AIDS Research Clinical Pharmacology and Analytical Chemistry Core. She joined the UNC-Chapel Hill faculty in 1997 and was named the John and Deborah McNeill, Jr. Distinguished Professor in 2013. She served as chair of the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics from 2015 to 2019 and then became dean of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy.

After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy at the University of Toronto, Dr. Kashuba completed a general practice residency at Women’s College Hospital and practiced as a critical care pharmacist at Mount Sinai Hospital, in Toronto, Canada. She received her Pharm.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and completed postdoctoral pharmacology training at the Clinical Pharmacology Research Center at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, New York.
