Speakers:

ACPHS alumna, Erin South '00 is a licensed pharmacist and serves as the Educational Programming Lead in FDA’s Office of Women’s Health (OWH). Erin coordinates a quarterly series of scientific seminars which bring world-renowned experts to educate FDA staff and federal partners on consideration of sex and gender differences to support the regulatory decision-making process. She has also partnered with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Research on  Women’s Health on the development of a series of webinars to help researchers and clinicians explore sex- and gender-related differences in key areas, such as endocrinology, neurology, and mental health. Before assuming her current role in OWH, Erin served as a reviewer in CDER’s Office of Surveillance and Epidemiology, in the Division of Risk Management, where she focused on risk evaluation and mitigation strategies (REMS). Prior to joining FDA, she practiced as a community pharmacist and district pharmacy manager before transitioning into a clinical ambulatory care setting. She earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Albany College of Pharmacy and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Shenandoah University.

Carol Pamer is a licensed pharmacist and serves as the Health Programs Coordinator in the FDA Office of Women’s Health (OWH). Her career at FDA has spanned a variety of interesting areas, including pharmacovigilance and postmarket drug safety, regulatory science research, and regulatory policy concerning tobacco products. OWH’s Scientific Programs support sex- and gender-based research and utilize evidence-based science to provide professional education for researchers and clinicians. Carol’s work primarily focuses on implementing guidelines and policy concerning the representation of women in clinical trials and the analysis of trial data by sex and gender. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the Ohio State University and a Master of Science degree in Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine from the University of Maryland-Baltimore School of Medicine.
