The ACPHS Women's Basketball team won the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) championship with a 48-44 victory over the College of New Rochelle.
It was the Panthers' first league title since 2012 and third overall. The team finished the season undefeated in conference play (6-0) with an overall record of 19-4.
Leading the way for the Panthers was tournament MVP Becca Foote, who had 14 points and 16 rebounds. Sophomore Allie Mitchell chipped in with 13 points and 3 steals, while Rochelle Whitton and Dannie Griffin grabbed 7 rebounds each. The Panthers' defense was especially strong throughout the tournament, allowing just 73 total points in the semi-final and championship games.
Head Coach Andrew Pelletier was named HVIAC Coach of the Year, while Rochelle Whitton, Allie Mitchell, and Dannie Griffin each earned all conference honors.
By winning the HVIAC tournament, the Panthers will receive an automatic bid to the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championship tournament. The eight-team field for the tournament will be announced on February 24. The tournament will take place March 1 -5 in Uniontown, PA.
