Dr. Rashid Chosen to Lead New Center For Biopharmaceutical Education and Training

DR. RASHID CHOSEN TO LEAD NEW CENTER FOR BIOPHARMACEUTICAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING

 

Kamal A. Rashid, Ph.D. has been appointed director of the College’s new Center for Biopharmaceutical Education and Training, which is set to open in January.

Dr. Rashid, who has more than 40 years of academic experience in both research and biotechnology program development, previously served as research professor emeritus and the former director of the Biomanufacturing Education and Training Center at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, a newly established center dedicated to serving the workforce needs of the biomanufacturing industry.

Prior to that, he was a research professor at Utah State University and the associate director of the University’s Center for Integrated BioSystems, where he developed the university’s bioprocessing facility to support undergraduate and graduate education and faculty research, and as a contract services provider of training programs and process development for biotechnology companies.

A former faculty member in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Pennsylvania State University from 1984-2000, Dr. Rashid is widely recognized for his continuing education, teaching and international programs. He received a Faculty Service Award in 1997 from the University Continuing Education Association for his meritorious service to Penn State University. He was also honored in 2012 as the international professor of the year in College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences at Utah State University.
