Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences has expanded its partnership with the University at Albany through an affiliation agreement that allows UAlbany students to pursue one of three health science degrees offered by ACPHS.

Per the terms of the agreement, a pathway has been put in place for UAlbany students who have completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology (or a related field) at the University to pursue master’s degrees in (1) Cytotechnology and Molecular Cytology or (2) Clinical Laboratory Sciences at ACPHS.

Similarly, UAlbany students who have completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry (or a related field) will be able to pursue the Doctor of Pharmacy degree at ACPHS.

The announcement of this new agreement took place at a special event where the University also announced that it was renaming its East Campus in Rensselaer, NY, as the Health Sciences Campus.

Among the connections between the two institutions, ACPHS has housed its Pharmaceutical Research Institute on the now Health Sciences Campus since 2007, and investigators there have enjoyed several research collaborations with UAlbany faculty through the years. The Institute also hosts UAlbany undergraduate students for laboratory research experiences as part of the University’s Summer Research Program.

“We applaud this forward-looking initiative and are pleased to advance our partnership with the University at Albany by offering new opportunities for students to pursue professional and graduate degrees in the health sciences,” said ACPHS President Greg Dewey, Ph.D., who spoke at the event. “We look forward to an even stronger relationship with UAlbany and will continue to leverage this collaboration to educate the next generation of the health professionals.”
