Four New Academic Programs to Launch at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences This Fall

Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences has received New York State Education Department approval to offer four new Bachelor of Science programs in biomedical sciences, forensic psychology, forensic science and psychology. Students can begin enrolling in these latest programs for the upcoming Fall 2024 semester.

Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences announces two new members to its Board of Trustees. Rose Zobel Lang ’69, RPh, and Karen M. Carpenter, MS, were approved as new members of the ACPHS Board of Trustees at the spring meeting.

“Vision is a picture of the future that produces passion.” It was the beginning of class and the guest facilitator, Trustee Dr. Marc Watrous ’91, began by paraphrasing a quote from the assigned reading, Chapter 8 of John C. Maxwell’s “Developing the Leader Within You 2.0.” Then he prompted the class with the question: “If a leader isn’t producing the vision, who is?”

ACPHS Ranks Second For Pharmacy Schools In New York State In U.S. News & World Report Listing

U.S. News & World Report has released its latest pharmacy program rankings and listed Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences the second highest ranked pharmacy school in New York State and #60 among the 141 national schools profiled, making ACPHS among the top ranked in the Northeast.

At 96.6 percent magnitude, the campus did not experience a total eclipse on April 8, 2024. Yet students, faculty and staff who gathered outside experienced a chill and an eerie light as the moon nearly obscured the sun at 3:26 pm.

Due to the lucky timing of her latest rotation, pharmacy student Angela Simonchyk had a front-row seat to big news on March 19: the signing of a standing order by New York's top doctor to make birth control available over the counter in pharmacies.

Women’s History Month: Recognizing Sarah E. Simonet, our First Female Graduate

Sarah E. Simonet, the first woman graduate of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, was born on July 25, 1854 in Schoharie County, New York. She was the daughter of Irish immigrants and lived in Croghan, NY, a tiny town at the western edge of the Adirondacks.

President Toyin Tofade is the 10th president of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and the first African American to hold this role. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with master’s in pharmacy practice and doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degrees.
