Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences’ President and Professor Toyin Tofade has been named to the Albany Business Review’s 2023 Power 50 listing (subscription required for viewing). Honorees were recognized at a preview party on July 12 before the final list was revealed to the public on July 14.
Members of the Power 50 are chosen for the role they plan in in shaping the region. The editorial staff of the Business Review select the honorees.
According to the business publication, “this year's list highlights the next wave of leaders in the region, the ones stepping into new roles and the ones bringing renewed energy and innovation to what they are doing. These are 50 people you'll want to get to know. They have big ideas and the energy to see those ideas through.”
President Tofade joined ACPHS in July 2022 as the 10th President of the College which was founded in 1881. She is the first Black woman to hold this position in the College’s 141-year history. She came to ACPHS following her role as the Dean of the Howard University College of Pharmacy in Washington, D.C. Read more about President Tofade’s background.
President Tofade shared with the Business Review that she sees regional collaboration as key to our success. We need to “assemble key industry stakeholders around core issues such as health care delivery, access to health care, health professions and life sciences education,” she said.
When asked how we can best invest in the region, President Tofade noted the need to “invest in infrastructure — people, networks, policies, support systems, R&D, facilities and equipment — necessary to create, nurture, sustain, and propel the emerging health care and life sciences industries.”
