ALBANY, NY: ACPHS’ Stack Family Center for Biopharmaceutical Education and Training (CBET) will be hosting a virtual symposium on Wednesday, September 15 from 1-4 p.m. with biopharmaceutical industry experts and academic leaders. To attend virtually, go to cbet.acphs.edu.
The first portion of the symposium will feature three speakers addressing Recent Developments in the Biomanufacturing of Therapeutic Proteins and Vaccines from the perspective of science, scalability and infrastructure. Speakers include:
- Ron Bates, PhD, Vice President, CMC Process Development and Technical Operations, Immunovant
- Matt DeLisa, PhD, Director, Cornell Institute of Biotechnology, Cornell University
- Sally Temple, PhD, Scientific Director, Neural Stem Cell Institute
The second part will be a panel entitled Preparing Tomorrow’s Workforce Today including:
- John Balchunas, MS, Workforce Director, NIIMBL
- Derek Brand, Chief Operating Officer, NewYorkBIO
- Andreas Castan, PhD, Strategic Technology and Business Development Leader, Cytiva
- Kelly A. Cycon, PhD, Director of Virology, Antylia
- Matt DeLisa, PhD, Professor and Director, Cornell Institute of Biotechnology, Cornell University
- Ali Demirci, PhD, Professor-in-Charge, CSL Behring Fermentation Facility, Penn State University
CBET is ACPHS’ response to the rapidly growing biopharmaceutical field and the need for an educated workforce, which has been cited as one of the critical constraints to growth of the biopharmaceutical industry. The Center will provide students the knowledge and hands-on experience to bring innovative biopharmaceuticals to patients. Located at the Albany NanoTech Complex, CBET is the first in the nation to be created by a pharmacy college.
