Nearly 240 undergraduate, graduate and PharmD students will cross the stage Saturday at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences’ 144th Commencement at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Mark Shaefer, PharmD, FCCP, a veteran in the field of HIV and antiviral pharmaceuticals, will serve as Commencement speaker. Charles Middleton, who is receiving a doctorate in pharmacy and a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences on the Pharmacy Skills Track, will serve as the student speaker.
ACPHS will honor Leigh Briscoe-Dwyer '87, RPh and PharmD and Real Duteau ’69, RPh, with honorary degrees.
The Class of 2024
In this year’s class, there are 161 female and 77 male students in the Class of 2024, with the youngest student aged 22 and the oldest student aged 54, including:

220 students are in their twenties

18 students are in their thirties

One student is in their forties

The oldest student in in their fifties
Among these students, degrees conferred including:

114 received undergraduate degrees

16 BS/MS dual degrees

32 master’s degrees

128 PharmD degrees

The PharmD students had an opportunity to receive both an undergraduate degree and a doctoral pharmacy degree. More than 40% of the PharmD students chose to receive two degrees and this year the graduates added either a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a pharmacy skills’ track or a Bachelor of Science in Public Health.
In addition, approximately 10% of these graduates will remain at the College to pursue further study in one of ACPHS’ additional degree programs.
Graduates hail from 21 states, one US territory - Puerto Rico, and 12 countries including the United States, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, China, Eritrea, Guyana, India, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea and South Sudan.
