With the incredible growth of the academic portfolio over the past 10 months, the College made investments in faculty who could teach these new programs to transferring Saint Rose students, as well as helping the College grow these programs to myriad prospective students.
In July, the College welcomed eight new faculty from the College of Saint Rose: six from psychology and forensic psychology, one from biology and one from forensic science. Combined, these professors hold more than 78-plus years of experience in their disciplines. The new courseloads will be shared between existing ACPHS faculty and the following new faculty members:
Biology
Kelly Hallstrom, PhD – A microbiologist with expertise in foodborne pathogens, Dr. Hallstrom served at the College of Saint Rose since 2017. In addition to research work focusing on Salmonella, she will teach microbiology and other biology courses and serves as the program director for the BS Biology program.

First Impressions
“On behalf of the faculty who joined ACPHS, we are excited to have the opportunity to continue working with our talented Saint Rose transfer students, as well as our new ACPHS students,” said Dr. Flint. “We are eager to see the students thrive and flourish in a close-knit, supportive community.”
Dr. Alvaro added, "I have been so impressed with the level of kindness and respect that everyone at ACPHS has shown our students and faculty. I am grateful that our forensic science program will live on and excited that I will be a part of making it even better for our students."
“I am grateful for the support ACPHS has given to our College of Saint Rose students over the last several months,” said Dr. Hallstrom. “I was impressed by the teaching and research facilities at ACPHS and am excited for the opportunity to continue educating and mentoring all students in the classroom and laboratory.”
Maher concludes, “I was attracted to ACPHS for many different reasons. The institution itself and its students are leaders in the fields of education and research, and I wanted to be part of that level of professionalism while bringing my own skills and perspective to ACPHS. Joining ACPHS in the forensic psychology program and continuing to advance what has really been one of the marquee programs at Saint Rose, was very compelling -- as was joining the faculty along with my Saint Rose colleagues -- colleagues who are also the leaders in their fields. The quality of students at ACPHS, and the addition of some of Saint Rose's best students, will be, I think, a huge advantage for everyone involved, as well as future ACPHS students.”
