Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences announces the promotion of Michele Vien to senior vice president of Finance and Administration and chief financial officer. In her new role, Vien will oversee finance and administration, facilities and operations, human resources, and information technology.
“Michele has expertly served the College for over 15 years in various capacities with increasing responsibilities,” Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences President Toyin Tofade said. “She is well versed in the history and business of the College and is committed to supporting the College’s mission for long-term success.”
Vien joined the College in 2006 as comptroller and was named vice president of Finance and chief financial officer in January 2011. Before coming to the College, she worked as a staff accountant at Grant Thornton LLP in Pittsburgh and BST & Co. (formerly Bollam, Sheedy, Torani & Co. LLO) Associates in Albany. While working for BST & Co., Vien was a senior staff accountant in the audit department, focusing on not-for-profit clients, and progressed to manager, senior manager, and partner.
As VP of Finance and CFO, Vien served the College as financial steward through various initiatives including the start-up of the student operated pharmacies, purchase of the Life Sciences Innovation Building, and navigation through the coronavirus pandemic. She also increased growth of the College’s cash and investments from $16 million to $81 million with the creation of a quasi-endowed scholarship fund and capital reserve fund, implemented an electronic student refund system improving student satisfaction and office efficiencies, and served on numerous committees.
Vien is a native of Pittsburgh, PA. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Accounting with a minor in Psychology from Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, PA. She currently resides in Glenville, NY with her husband and two children.
