Immersive Learning at Our Albany Campus

The on-campus program emphasizes in-person, collaborative learning with access to expert faculty and state-of-the-art labs through the Stack Family Center for Biopharmaceutical Education and Training (CBET).
The program features two pathways: a full-time track for dedicated students and a part-time option tailored to working professionals.
Its flexible design also makes it possible to pursue dual degree opportunities—such as pairing the MS in Biotechnology with a Doctor of Pharmacy.
Program Details for In-Person, On-Campus MS in Biotechnology Program
This one-year accelerated program provides a strong foundation in cell and molecular biology, medicine discovery, biomanufacturing and regulatory processes. You’ll also build practical skills in technical writing, ethics and scientific communication.
Hands-On Lab Experience
You’ll have more than 150 hours of hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment–including stirred tank and perfusion bioreactors, chromatography systems and HPLC–and learn techniques that ensure you graduate with both the knowledge and practical skills that employers value.

You’ll also have access to the state-of-the-art Stack Family Center for Biopharmaceutical Education and Training (CBET), where you’ll work with cutting-edge technologies, engage in real-world research and receive industry-focused training. In a field where workforce readiness is critical, CBET prepares the next generation of scientists and pharmacists.
Capstone Project
The Biotechnology program culminates in a biopharmaceutical capstone, giving you the opportunity to put your classroom and laboratory knowledge into action.
You can choose from three customizable capstone tracks: research-focused project, industry experience or literature-based review paper to match your career goals and interests.

The hybrid online MS in Biotechnology offers a STEM-dedicated curriculum designed to prepare students for thriving careers in the biotech industry. The program covers cellular biology, innovative cell-based product development, and the science and technology behind purification processes that ensure product safety and efficacy.
Students learn through a combination of lectures and hands-on lab training with industry-standard equipment. The curriculum also integrates essential topics such as technical writing, regulatory science, statistical analysis and ethics. Advanced coursework in clinical biochemistry, molecular biology and cell biology further equips students for success in this evolving field.
To tailor their education, students choose from three capstone tracks aligned with their career goals: industry-focused, comprehensive review, or research experience.
