Significant Career Advantage
(PharmD APPE Electives)
As a PharmD student, you may choose CBET Career ARC (C²ARC) electives as part of your Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs). These rotations extend traditional pharmacy practice into the world of biopharmaceutical development and the business of biotechnology. By choosing this elective, you’ll gain a distinct edge when pursuing a pharmacy, clinical, research, or industry career.
C²ARC elective experiences are structured around three pathways, tailored to your interests:
- Introductory Laboratory Training – building core technical skills in areas such as pipette use and verification, mammalian cell culture techniques, and spectrophotometry.
- Applied Biopharmaceutical Laboratory Work – gaining real-world perspective by working in CBET’s BSL-2 facility, where you’ll experience the excitement of biopharmaceutical research and development.
- Business of Biotechnology – exploring strategic, cross-functional roles including project management, medical affairs, communication, and technical marketing.
Your elective may be designed as laboratory-focused, business-focused, or hybrid—giving you the freedom to tailor your APPE experience to your career aspirations.
“While you may not have knowledge about biopharmaceutical research or what it may be like to work in a biotechnology company, there are so many great people at CBET willing to share their experiences.
Expanding Access Through Academic Pathways
Students from more than 20 two- and four-year colleges can continue their academic journey at ACPHS through transfer affiliation agreements. By enrolling at ACPHS through these pathways, you gain access to CBET Career ARC (C²ARC) programming and CBET labs where the doors are opened to the knowledge, skills, and confidence to advance your career.
