TD Charitable Foundation Gift Will Help Support The Collaboratory

TD Bank's James Gaspo Presents ACPHS President Greg Dewey with a Donation to The Collaboratory
October 1, 2018

The TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, has donated $10,000 to the ACPHS Collaboratory; the funds will help ensure the site has the resources needed to serve the health needs of Albany's South End communities. The donation is part of the Foundation’s commitment to giving back to the community.

The Collaboratory – literally a “laboratory for collaboration” – opened on September 13, 2018. It provides programs and facilitate partnerships with local community organizations with a goal of improving the health and wellness of residents in the South End. The services provided at The Collaboratory will complement those of ACPHS’ College Parkside Pharmacy, a full-service pharmacy operated by the College that opened in 2017 and is located in the nearby Capital South Campus Center.

The first program to be managed out of The Collaboratory will be the Rapid Engagement and Advocacy for Community Health program or REACH. Led by Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region, REACH features teams comprised of Trinity employees, ACPHS students, and paid interns who assist local residents with needs ranging from health education to transportation assistance. The College will also use the Collaboratory to launch its own public health programs on topics of relevance to the community such as asthma management, smoking cessation, nutrition, and medication literacy.

“We wish to thank the TD Charitable Foundation for their interest in, and support of, The Collaboratory,” said ACPHS President Greg Dewey. “By investing in this initiative, TD Bank is ensuring that medically underserved residents in Albany’s South End are able to access information and services that will help them and their families live longer, healthier lives.”

"TD is committed to driving positive change through working collaborations that enrich the lives of our diverse communities across our entire footprint," said James Gaspo, Upstate NY Regional Vice President, TD Bank (pictured above at left). "We are honored to be a part of this effort, created by ACPHS, to help provide better health outcomes for low-to-moderate income families in Albany's South End. Driving improved health outcomes is a key element of TD's newly launched Ready Commitment, a multi-year platform ensuring a more sustainable and inclusive future."
