Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences announces the appointment of Jonathan Phipps to the role of associate vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion. Phipps will join the College on August 1, 2023.
In this new role, Phipps will develop and implement a comprehensive diversity, equity and inclusion plan which will be woven through ACPHS’ strategic plan. He will also seek to ensure programs promote the importance and value of a diverse and equitable college environment inclusive all members of the campus community.
“A passionate educator, Jonathan’s expertise will guide the ACPHS community to create a sense of belonging by working with faculty, staff and students, enabling us to work toward our collective goal of meeting the evolving needs of the community and promoting sustainable, positive change,” said ACPHS President Toyin Tofade.
Prior to joining ACPHS, Phipps served as equity coordinator for the Southern Vermont Supervisory Union in Bennington, Vermont. He has also worked in a variety of capacities throughout his career where he was able to combine his passion for political outreach/advocacy and educating youth including Berkshire Farm Center for Youth and as a high school history teacher in the Baltimore City Public Schools.
He holds a master’s in Arts and Social Sciences from the University of Melbourne – Melbourne VIC; a bachelor’s in Political Science from Salisbury University; and an associate’s in Liberal Arts from Howard University.
