Albany, NY - July 20, 2016 - Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences announced that Christine Kanawada has been named the College's new Director of Athletics and Recreation. Kanawada has served as the Assistant Director of Athletics and Recreation since 2012 and has coached ACPHS women's soccer since 2008.
In addition to Kanawada's promotion, Hannah Hager, the College's Head Athletic Trainer, has been promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics and Recreation.
Kanawada will continue in her role as Head Women's Soccer Coach, and Hager will continue as Head Athletic Trainer.
Kanawada, who holds a bachelor's degree in Sports and Recreation Management from Concordia University Chicago, was named the HVIAC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year in 2012 and 2013 and has accumulated a 68-25-3 overall record in her tenure.
She has led the Panthers to USCAA National Championship appearances every year since 2012, advanced to the Final Four in 2012 and 2013, and finished as the National Runner-Up in 2015.
Hager earned bachelor's degrees in athletic training and liberal studies from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. She received her Master's degree in Exercise Science from Syracuse University where she served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer that worked primarily with the women's lacrosse team.

"They are both committed to bringing the Office of Athletics and Recreation to a new level of support and engagement for our students, not only for those involved in varsity sports, but for those playing intramurals and club sports as well."
