Academic & Research Interests

Dr. Cleary is the director of the ACPHS pharmacogenomic certificate program. She is a member of the Clinical Pharmacogenomics Implementation Consortium (CPIC). She is also the Co-Director of Opioid Addiction Teaching Day (an interprofessional event with Albany Medical Center).

Recent national attention to the opioid epidemic has been a subject of increasing interest. Dr. Cleary has numerous posters and publications and has presented both locally and nationally on the topic of naloxone distribution, naloxone legislation, and risk mitigation strategies to reduce opioid abuse and misuse. Her interests include pain management, both opioid and non-opioid pharmacology, pharmacogenetics, as well as the integration of behavioral health and substance abuse management. Dr. Cleary also provides education throughout the curriculum on OTC pain management options for community pharmacists.
