A female student holds a pink balloon as the club Colleges Against Cancer decorate the atrium for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The College is showing support for Breast Cancer Awareness this month.

The Colleges against Cancer Club, who was spotlighted in October 2024, pulled out the pink decor on October 2 and decorated the Gozzo Center atrium to further raise awareness on campus.

Two female students hang a breast cancer awareness banner in the atrium. This month, they are also hosting:

🎀 A Making Strides T-short sale in the Panther’s Den from 11 am – noon on Thursday, October 9 and Tuesday, October 14

🎀 Campus registration for the Sunday, October 19 Making Strides Walk in Washington Park

🎀 A post-walk popcorn event on Tuesday, October 21 from 11 am – noon in the atrium

🎀 A care package assembly event for cancer patients on Thursday, October 23 from 11 am – noon in the Panther’s Den

Visit engage.acphs.edu for more information on these events and all of the events happening on campus.

Also, in light of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we checked in with Dr. Kideok Jin on his hormone-resistant breast cancer research. He shared with us that the project is ongoing. This year, his team discovered that “help” signals from stromal cells can sustain endocrine-resistant breast cancer cells, and now they are testing strategies to block this crosstalk to restore drug sensitivity. The team presented its findings at the AACR Annual Meeting last April and will share additional updates at the upcoming San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium this December.

Check out this short video overview of Dr. Jin’s hormone-resistant research.
