empowering Students With REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE

While The Collaboratory and College Parkside Pharmacy were created to benefit community members, they serve the dual purpose of providing ACPHS students with unparalleled learning experiences. At College Parkside Pharmacy, ACPHS pharmacy students assist the pharmacist with delivering patient care as they learn about the operations of a community pharmacy.

With The Collaboratory, students from the College's Public Health program play key roles in advancing the area's health and wellness, working alongside community health workers to confront real-life healthcare situations and helping devise solutions to these challenges. These students are assisted by ACPHS faculty members and other social and medical workers as they learn how to work together as part of a unified team, for the benefit of the community.

In the future, ACPHS faculty and students will use The Collaboratory to offer educational programs and services on subjects of relevance to the community. Topics for these forums may include asthma management, smoking cessation and medication literacy.

In the fall of 2018, the Public Health program held its first class for ACPHS students at The Collaboratory.

easy access for students

Located two miles from the ACPHS campus, the proximity of The Collaboratory means students can quickly get back and forth from the site without causing a lot of disruption to their class schedules. Free bus transportation is available for students through a program with CDTA, and there is also ample on-street parking available near the Collaboratory for those with their own transportation.

Pushing Humanity Forward
"Working at the Collaboratory opened my eyes to the health disparities affecting our local community and more importantly taught me that I can make a difference." - Seth C., B.S. Public Health '21
