Student Life

Health & Safety

As an institution committed to the advancement of health care, the College places a priority on the health and safety of our students. ACPHS offers a variety of programs and services to help ensure each student’s physical and mental well being.

COUNSELING SERVICES

The Albany Campus Counseling Center offers free wellness and mental health services to students, faculty, and staff. Assistance is available for a variety of health issues including: adjustment concerns, anxiety, alcohol and drug use, bipolar disorder, depression, eating disorders, family problems, LGBTQ, mood swings, relationship difficulties, stress, and suicidal thoughts.

CAMPUS SAFETY

University Heights Association Public Safety (UHAPS) provides the public safety services for the College. This service is seven days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. UHAPS consists of uniformed officers and supervisors who patrol the grounds of the College. Blue Light emergency telephones and an electronic emergency notification system add an additional layer of safety.

HEALTH CENTER AND INSURANCE SERVICES

Through its medical partners, the College provides health center access to students as part of the infirmary fee. To further ensure student health, ACPHS requires all full-time students to have health insurance coverage, and for those who are not covered by a family health insurance plan or private insurer, there is a quality plan offered by the College.

FITNESS CENTER

Students may maintain their health in the 5,000 square foot Fitness Center on the Albany Campus which includes free weights, strength machines, cardio equipment and a dance/aerobics room.

HEALTHY EATING

The College works closely with its food service provider, Chartwells, to ensure students have access to a variety of healthy food options in the cafeteria. For menus and additional information, please visit Chartwells' Dine on Campus web site.
