Community Outreach
At ACPHS, we’re dedicated to creating meaningful impact in our surrounding communities by partnering with local schools, youth programs and organizations through a variety of outreach initiatives, events and collaborations.
ACPHS in Action
Where Education Meets Engagement
The Collaboratory
Located at 200 South Pearl Street in Albany’s South End, the Collaboratory is a hub for partnership and purpose. Created by ACPHS as a “laboratory for collaboration,” this community space brings together faculty, students and local organizations to develop programs that promote health and wellness for residents in Albany and surrounding neighborhoods.
Student Operated Pharmacy
ACPHS operates a not-for-profit community pharmacy in a medically underserved area of New York’s Capital Region, bringing care where it’s needed most. The College Hometown Pharmacy opened in 2016 in Schenectady’s Hometown Health Centers. The pharmacy serves a dual purpose: enhancing access to essential health services for residents while providing hands-on, real-world training for our students.
Health & Wellness Expo
Each fall, ACPHS students host the Health & Wellness Expo, an event open to the entire community, offering free health services and resources. The day features a variety of offerings such as blood-pressure screenings, flu-shot clinics, bone-density screenings and more, all designed to support the health and well-being of our neighbors.
Community Partnerships
ACPHS students and faculty contribute to the community in various ways, including volunteer work and support for organizations such as the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Boys and Girls Clubs, Make-A-Wish Foundation, March of Dimes, Meals on Wheels, National Kidney Foundation, Parsons Child and Family Center, Ronald McDonald House, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Toys for Tots and many more.
