Wallace Pickworth Named to ACPHS Board of Trustees

Wallace Pickworth, Ph.D., has been appointed to the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences' Board of Trustees; Dr Pickworth is a Research Leader for Battelle Memorial Institute. Battelle is a research and development company that designs and manufactures products, and delivers critical services for government and commercial customers. He is also a member of the ACPHS President’s Advisory Council.

Dr. Pickworth is a pharmacologist with more than 30 years of preclinical and clinical experience. For the past ten years, he has directed clinical research on tobacco and nicotine for Battelle with a focus on the delivery of toxicants from various tobacco products. Prior to joining Battelle, he was with the National Institutes of Health for nearly 30 years, rising from a post-doc position to a tenured staff scientist at the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

Dr. Pickworth has published more than 100 peer reviewed papers, book chapters, and technical reports. He has worked with numerous collaborators, including NIH colleagues, academic and health care institutions, private industry, and national and international scientific and regulatory agencies.

He also remains active in pharmacy, holding pharmacist licenses in two states and serving as an adjunct faculty at two colleges of pharmacy. He has a B.S. degree in pharmacy from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and a Ph.D.degree in pharmacology from the University of Tennessee.

He has proven to be a great resource on our President’s Advisory Council, and I have no doubt that he will make many valuable contributions to our Board of Trustees.”

Dr. Pickworth is the 10th new member to join the Board of Trustees since Dr. Dewey became president in July 2014. The Board currently has 20 members.
