Biotechnology Degree Coursework
The program prepares the students for diverse careers in the rapidly evolving biotechnology and biopharmaceutical industries.
Basic Sciences form the foundation of the degree. The basic sciences encompass General Biology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, General Chemistry I and II, Organic Chemistry I and a Survey of Organic Chemistry, Clinical Immunology, Elementary Statistics, Calculus, Algebra, and Biochemistry.
The core Biotechnology coursework delves into the practical and theoretical aspects of biotechnology. Students will explore Introduction to Biotechnology, Mammalian Cell Culture, Microbial Fermentation, Virology, Biomedical Laboratory Techniques I and II, Genetics and Molecular Basis of Disease, Applied Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Quantitative Analysis, Techniques in Molecular Biology, and Downstream Processing of Biopharmaceutical Products.
Beyond the required courses, students can tailor their learning through electives. Electives include 9 credits of Directed Electives for focused exploration and 12 credits of Free Electives to broaden their academic horizons. This program prepares the students for diverse careers in the rapidly evolving biotechnology and biopharmaceutical industries.
