PHARMGRAD Application Requirements

Use PharmGrad to apply for the M.S. in Molecular Biosciences and M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences programs. 

Spring Admission Deadlines (M.S. in Molecular Biosciences only)

November 15  Deadline to submit completed PharmGrad application 

Fall Admission Deadlines (all programs)

February 1      Deadline to apply and receive consideration for a graduate tuition scholarship 

April 15           Deadline to submit completed PharmGrad application

  • B.S. or B.A. degree from an accredited institution with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The degree must be conferred prior to enrollment at ACPHS.
  • Pre-requisite and recommended coursework:
    • M.S. Molecular Biosciences pre-requisite courses (one of the following):
      • Cell Biology
      • Molecular Biology
      • Molecular Genetics
        • Additionally, the following courses are recommended:
          • Biochemistry
          • Immunology
          • Microbiology
    • M.S. Pharmaceutical Sciences pre-requisite courses:
      • Molecular Biology
      • Human Physiology or Anatomy and Physiology
      • Biochemistry
        • Additionally, the following courses are recommended based on a student's area of interest:
          • Pharmacokinetics
            • Calculus I
            • Calculus II
          • Medicinal Chemistry and Synthesis for Drug Discovery
            • Analytical Chemistry
            • Physical Chemistry
  • Completed and officially submitted PharmGrad applicationinclusive of:
    • Names and contact information of two (2) faculty or professional references 
    • Personal essay outlining why you wish to pursue graduate studies in your selected program at ACPHS, your specific interest in the field of choice and your career goals
    • Current resume or curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Official transcripts for all college-level coursework, including college-level coursework completed while in high school. An official WES or ECE evaluation is required for all coursework taken outside of the United States. *All official transcripts or WES/ECE evaluations must be sent directly to PharmGrad (not to ACPHS) via the National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment, or Credentials Solutions or mailed by the authorized institution, using the following address:

  • Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores. The GRE must have been completed within the past five (5) years and be sent directly to the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (Code 2013) or PharmGrad (Code 7804) by ETS. *Current ACPHS students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are exempt from the GRE requirement.

In addition to the required application materials listed above, international applicants are also required to submit the following documentation:

  • Official TOEFL (minimum score of 84) or IELTS (minimum score of 7) scores. *This requirement may be waived for applicants who have been studying in the United States for at least two (2) years immediately prior to the time of application. Official TOEFL score reports should be sent directly to the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (Code 2013) or PharmGrad (Code 7804) by ETS. Official IELTS results can be sent either to ACPHS or PharmGrad as well.
