Intended Audience: Practicing healthcare providers, pharmacists, nurses, and students

Activity Overview: With a diverse group of faculty who are experts in the field of pharmacogenomics, the program discusses pharmacogenetic application beyond the field of psychiatry and expands into other primary care fields as well. Topics include:

  • Introduction to Pharmacogenomics (3 CME credits)
  • Clinical Application of Pharmacogenomics: Psychiatry & Pain (3 CME credits)
  • Clinical Application of Pharmacogenomics: Cardiology & Hematology/Oncology (3 CME credits)
  • PPIs, Drug Hypersensitivity, Ethics of Pharmacogenomics (3 CME credits)
  • Clinical Implementations in Retail Pharmacy (3 CME credits) (OPTION 1)
  • Clinical Implementations in Medicine (3 CME credits) (OPTION 2)

Upon completion of this CME program, you should have a better understanding of the tools needed to identify, test, interpret, and prescribe based on pharmacogenomic information supported by clinical evidence.

Continuing Education: Available as a full program (15 CME credits) or as individual modules (3 CME credits each), the program includes both synchronous and asynchronous learning options. The complete five-module certificate program spans 10-weeks beginning September 13, 2021. Each individual module has its own start date and can be completed on your own time.

Participants must log in using your full name so that proof of participation can be confirmed. Participants must also complete the online learning assessments for the activity attended after the program to receive credit for this activity. Continuing Medical Education Credit.

Medicine (CME) Accreditation Statement

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the American Public Health Association (APHA) and the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The APHA is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Designation Statement: The APHA designates this Pharmacogenomic Certificate Program educational activity for a maximum of 18 credits AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.

Nursing (CNE) Accreditation Statement

This nursing continuing professional development activity was approved by the American Public Health Association’s Public Health Nursing Section (APHA/PHN), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

How to Obtain CE Credit: Participants must attend the entire online activity and complete the evaluation online in order to earn credit hours and obtain a CE certificate. A link to the online evaluation system will be provided to all registered participants who attend the activity that will contain instructions for access to the system. All online evaluations must be submitted by 12/30/2022 to receive continuing education credit for this activity.

Physicians should check with their state medical board for requirements for self-reporting credit hours.

Registration Fee: There is a registration fee of $695.00 for the full certificate program (15 CME). The registration fee for the individual modules is $100.00 for the recorded-only version (2 CME each), and $150.00 for the hybrid version (3 CME credits).
