Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice Jeffrey Brewer was recently a guest on the PBS television show "Health Link." The episode examines vitamins and supplements, discussing the latest findings on their effectiveness. The show is now archived on the WMHT website.
Below is a description of the show (as excerpted from the "Health Link" web site):
The dietary supplement industry is big business in this country, bringing in over 30 billion dollars a year. More than half of American adults consume vitamins and mineral supplements, begging the question -- has it made us any healthier? On the next 'Health Link' we’ll examine American’s love affair with supplements, why we take them and what the latest research says about their effectiveness.
Dr. Brewer will be joined by Marianne Romano, MPA, RD, CDN, a Registered Dietician, and Ronald Stram, MD, an Integrative Medicine Doctor.
Each week on "Health Link," members of the local medical community discuss a wide variety of issues related to health and healthy living. Hosted by Benita Zahn, the program delves deeper than the usual soundbites to provide you with important health information that is useful, comprehensible, and contextualized.
