September 27, 2016

Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences announced today that David Stack ’76, Chairman and CEO of Pacira Pharmaceuticals, has been appointed to the College’s Board of Trustees. Pacira Pharmaceuticals, Inc., is a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on non-opioid medication products for pain management.

Mr. Stack joined Pacira to lead a restructuring of the company in 2007, and he has operated as its CEO for the past eight years. He has shepherded several therapeutics through clinical development and FDA approval, including the successful commercial launch of the groundbreaking pain control product EXPAREL.

In addition to his role with Pacira, Mr. Stack is also a Managing Director at MPM Capital, a venture capital firm focused on investing in life sciences companies (Pacira is an MPM portfolio company).

Prior to joining MPM in 2004, Mr. Stack was President, CEO, and Director of The Medicines Company. He also served as CEO of his own company (Stack Pharmaceuticals) and has been an executive with several other pharmaceutical companies including Innovex and Hoffmann LaRoche.

“We are excited to welcome Dave to the Board of Trustees," said Greg Dewey, Ph.D., President of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. “With a background that includes experience as a pharmacist, an industry executive, and an entrepreneur, Dave embodies the diversity of skill sets we want our students to have, and his perspective will be a valuable addition to our Board.”

Mr. Stack is the 9th new member to join the Board of Trustees since Dr. Dewey became president in July 2014. The Board currently has 21 members.
