Chair, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Founded in 1881, Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) is a private, independent institution with academic programs and research activities spanning the full spectrum of pharmacy, health sciences, and arts and sciences.

ACPHS students pursue a wide range of career pathways in health related fields through both undergraduate and graduate programs. More than 1,400 students are enrolled at the College’s main campus located in the heart of the Capital District in Albany, New York, and more than 200 students are currently enrolled at the satellite campus located in Colchester, Vermont.

ACPHS is part of a vibrant and growing research community that offers opportunities for collaborative interactions in basic and translational research at the College's Pharmaceutical Research Institute and nearby research institutions including the Wadsworth Laboratories, Albany Medical Center, the State University of New York at Albany, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. 

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, located in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, invites applications and nominations for the position of Department Chair.

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences offers B.S. and M.S. degrees in Pharmaceutical Sciences, a joint B.S./M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

The ideal candidate for the Chair position will be a collaborative, productive individual with outstanding leadership skills and a commitment to excellence. In addition, s/he will have excellent interpersonal skills, a distinguished record of scholarly research, a consistent history of extramural funding, and evidence of leadership in teaching innovation.

Qualified candidates should possess a Ph.D. degree with demonstration of scholarly excellence in the pharmaceutical sciences. Currently, the department has research interests in Neurobiology, Immunology, and Pharmaceutics, and an outstanding record in research/extramural funding and publication in leading peer-reviewed publications. Academic experience to merit an initial academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor with tenure is required. Qualified candidates should also possess proven leadership skills, including effective management and interpersonal skills.
