Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Announces $50 Million Capital Campaign

ALBANY, NY November 16, 2011 Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) will officially launch its $50 million capital campaign, “Moving Forward,” on November 17 at 11 a.m. in the Student Center Atrium of the College’s Albany campus.

This announcement marks the beginning of the public phase of the campaign for ACPHS. The College has already raised nearly $20 million in gifts and pledges, positioning it well for a successful campaign.

Through this campaign, initiated with the full support of ACPHS President James J. Gozzo, Ph.D. and the Board of Trustees, the College seeks to further its position as a premiere pharmacy and health sciences school.

Moving Forward is a plan that focuses on significant investment in five areas which are critical to the continued growth and competitiveness of the College:

  • > Growing the endowment to help sustain key programs, recruit and retain outstanding faculty, and safeguard against economic downturns.
  • > Growing scholarship funds to allow students who may otherwise be unable to attend ACPHS, an opportunity for an incredible education.
  • > Expanding academic programs to give students access to a wide range of career paths in pharmacy and other health care related fields.
  • > Expanding research programs to enhance the student experience and encompass groundbreaking research in drug discovery, disease state management, and health outcomes.
  • > Expanding the facilities to support new academic and research programs and enhance student life.

“Moving Forward is focused on the students and faculty of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences,” noted Dr. Gozzo. “The College has been known for more than 130 years as a premiere school for pharmacy and other health care programs, providing students with an outstanding education, innovative learning facilities and a distinguished and caring faculty. This campaign supports our strategic plan to keep us progressively moving forward, ensuring our ability to enhance our technology, facilities, research opportunities, and academic programs, and ultimately, enabling the College to reach even greater heights.”

“Thanks to the generosity of our alumni, corporate partners and friends, our campaign is off to a strong start,” said Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Vicki DiLorenzo. “The responses we have received in the first phase of the Campaign have exceeded all of our initial expectations and speak strongly to the commitment of our alumni and supporters to the success of this campaign and the future of the institution.”

An additional campaign launch event, featuring talks by Dr. Gozzo and ACPHS Chairman of the Board, Herbert Chorbajian, will be held at the Saratoga National Golf Course on November 19 with invited alumni, trustees, supporters and friends of the College.
