Director of Student Professional Development
Position Description
Reporting to the Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and under guidance of the Assistant Dean for Professional Affairs, the Director of Student Advising and Professional Development will be responsible for implementation and management of an innovative program within the school to enhance traditional academic advising with a hybrid combination with personal, professional and career development for each student. In collaboration with the Assistant Dean, the Director will develop a strategic plan to implement required goals, and evaluate outcomes related to the activities of student professional and academic development for the Albany and Colchester campuses. The Director will closely collaborate with faculty and administrators to successfully communicate, coordinate, implement, assess and recommend strategies to insure student retention, growth and success through graduation.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in educational administration, counseling, or student affairs plus a minimum of two years of academic advising experience is preferred; Bachelor’s degree and five years experience in academic advising in institutions of higher education, leadership development, career services, or a related field is required. Expertise in the pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, or healthcare fields is highly desirable. Qualified candidates will have knowledge of FERPA regulations, the ability to handle confidential information and sensitive situations appropriately; and the ability to collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data for use when formulating recommendations. Successful candidates will have the ability to be an effective, enthusiastic, and creative member of a dynamic team working collaboratively across the College and with external constituents.
