Licensing of Pharmacists in New York State

Pharmacists are licensed by the New York State Education Department, State Board of Pharmacy. To obtain a license to practice pharmacy in New York, the Doctor of Pharmacy graduate of an accredited school or college of pharmacy must successfully complete a series of State Board Examinations.

Each licensed pharmacist is required to register with the State Education Department, Board of Pharmacy, every three years.

A person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony related to drug use or sale may not be eligible for the licensing examination.

Licensing of Pharmacists in Vermont

Pharmacists are licensed by the Vermont Office of the Secretary of State, Vermont Board of Pharmacy. To obtain a license to practice pharmacy in Vermont, the Doctor of Pharmacy graduate of an accredited school or college of pharmacy must meet all qualifications for licensure and successfully complete the NAPLEX and MPJE examinations by achieving a score of 75 on each component of the examinations.

The Vermont Board of Pharmacy may deny licensure if the applicant has engaged in acts that directly affect the ability to practice pharmacy. These include acts which lead to the conviction or indictment for a felony or misdemeanor, or disciplinary sanction, for violation of drug or pharmacy-related laws, rules or regulations.
